FAQ
Roles simplify the creation of group chats by keeping memberships up to date automatically.
Simply add one or more roles as members of the chat. The users will be automatically added to or removed from the group chat, depending on the selection of their current role.
Benefits
- You don't have to be assigned to a role to invite it to a chat.
- You decide which role you want to take on. Other users can see the role you've taken on in your profile details and in chats.
- User roles are displayed inside chat bubbles, allowing you and others to identify one's assignment and responsibility instantly.

What is the difference between roles and circles?
Both roles and circles are created and administered by an administrator in the Teamwire Dashboard.
Here are the key differences:
Circles
- Suited for medium- to long-term user groups, such as departments or projects.
- Users are added by a Dashboard admin. They instantly join all chats the circle is a member of.
- Users cannot leave circles - and therefore not the associated chats.
- Users have a permanent membership until the Dashboard admin removes them.
Roles
- Aimed at users whose scope of duties changes more constantly, such as early or night shifts, or on-call service.
- Users are added by a Dashboard admin. They join all chats the role is a member of only once they actively take on a role.
- Users can leave roles on their own - and therefore the associated chats.
- Users have a permanent membership until the Dashboard admin removes them, but they have the choice of when to actively take on a role.
